Comedy Special by Ricky Gervais was pretty funny. Reviewers hated it. Viewers loved it.

Ricky Gervais comedy special SuperNature was more his dark humor. Reviewers hated it. Viewers loved it. He explains in it, that he trashes everyone. And if trans folks want to be like everyone else, then they get mocked too. It wasn't mean, and slams all sacred cows. I don't find him hysterical, but he has some great moments, and pithy/ironic/dark observations.

He's a no sacred cows commedian, but not mean spirited. More witty and observational than just a shock jock. And he insults everything. Men, women, trans. Himself. Left, right, center. He loves animals, and makes fun of them too. He's an old styly lefty that is both a "Liberal" (sometimes stupidly so), but is definitely not a fan of #metoo/cancel culture and bullying killing comedy.

I can laugh at things I agree with, or disagree with. And he's that kind of guy and shares as much. He'd insult his mum for the joke. And he seems like a hell of a guy to raise a pint with... if you don't mind occasionally blowing beer our your nose.

So this probably wasn't the best comedy special of the year I'll see. But it was definitely not near the bottom. And it was worth the price of admission.

I use the spread as a predictor of whether I'll like a film. Big spread with audience over critics? I'm going to like it. But big spread with critics over audience? I'll usually side with audience.

He was funnier than left wing late night commedians, and they love them. It was that he attacked woke haters, by mocking them more than trans people. (His barbs at trans were usually barbs at woke/cancel culture around Trans).
