Limbaugh was a funny and smart man, but he did prod the other side, satirize them, and mock. But there's also a long history of the left exaggerating or taking what he said out of context.

Example:

Feminazi - Rush explained that there was a subset of feminists+leftists that were Nazi about their hatred of men, or tolerance for norms. The far-left media and others characturized this that he was saying all women or all feminists were Nazi's -- which polarized his informed audience with the uninformed left that believed an over generalization that wasn't true.
