The Daily Star was an outraged because they thought £183m spent on 5" naval gun mean length, not diameter or projectile.
The Daily Star had an outraged headline, "We just blew £183m on a five-inch gun, but it’s ‘a good value for taxpayers"... the premise seems to be that they think a 5" gun (Naval Diameter Canon), is just 5" long handgun. You can tell because the subhead was, “the length of a toothbrush.” After getting resoundingly mocked, they since corrected the story.

It's not just that they had a single staff writer that was that stupid, it's that the Senior editors, fact checkers, and entire staff was so mind-numbingly dumb as to not even think to question the story.

That says what you need to know about about their collective wisdom of the entire British Press, on anything gun related. (And most other topics).

This is a short list of some of the "smartest Gun-Controllers in the room". This isn't just "gotcha" type mistakes, but fundamental failures to understand the basics of what they're talking about. I've been looking for a gun-controller that could talk about the basic parts and operation without sounding like an idiot and I have yet to find one, but I'm only 58 years old.
