America was founded on, "Guns are liberties teeth". If government doesn't trust the public, then Government is the problem.
America was founded on, "Guns are liberties teeth". Governments are empowered by men to protect men. If governments don't trust the public to protect themselves, then the government isn't serving the people any more, and is the problem. The gun-controllers is exactly the kind of corrupt leadership that the Second Amendment was written to protect against.

Left Right
The left hates and fears guns and individual liberty, thus everything about the Second Amendment. Since they can't repeal it, they just want to undermine it, breaking their oath of office (to defend the Constitution). If you think guns kill people, then of course you want to eliminate all guns. Since those truths aren't popular, they must lie and pretend they're not against all guns. But they are. And the informed know it. If you know the basics of guns and how they operate, you know that the left has yet to offer a "reasonable" gun control. Every idea for restricting a natural right/freedom only sounds reasonable to the uniformed, but are based on a complete lack of understanding about guns, human nature, crime, the law, and the consequences of their policies. The politicians actively oppose things that might help because doing so would weaken their agenda to eliminate more guns, or to get elected by campaigning against them.
❝ A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. ❞

Second Amendment - there's no moderate or informed gun-controllers on the left. I've looked for 40+ years. As long as you believe that an inanimate objects contributes to murder, you're going to vote on that superstition to restrict them more and more, until everyone is safe from that liberty. And when only the police/government has guns, you live in a police state. So the left is consistently against the 2A, their views on History of Guns is distorted. Facts about mass shootings that have been stopped by civilians, or civilian Defensive Gun Use or real comparison to places with gun control, just outrage them. They want to ban all guns, and lie about it because they know that's unpopular.

Examples[edit | edit source]

Now let's list just a few of the examples of how the left (especially progressive left) has virtually always opposed the 2A or reasonable gun control:

  • 2nd Amendment was about the militia - A well-regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed ~ 2nd Amendment, Bill of Rights. Well regulated means, "in working order". Militia means "all able body males". And the National guard wasn't created until 1903 - so was not vaguely what the founders were referring to.
  • 2nd Amendment was for muskets - A well-regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed ~ 2nd Amendment, Bill of Rights. Well regulated means, "in working order". Militia means "all able body males". And the National guard wasn't created until 1903 - so was not vaguely what the founders were referring to.
  • Concealed carry - They commit fewer crimes (than the general public), have better shooting records than the police, and have stopped many mass murders, school shootings shootings and saved countless lives.
  • Defensive Gun Use - Best estimates are that guns are used in ≈9,000 murders per year but they're used about 2.2 million times a year to stop a crime or save a list. That means if you outlawed all guns (and you're naive enough to think that would stop 9,000 murders), you'd probably increase crime by a couple million more cases a year?
  • Do something - After every mass shooting (especially School shootings), there's the hue and cry from the left, "this happened again, we have to do something!" What they usually want to do is institute marxism/tyranny, because that's what they wanted before there was a shooting. Thus the shooting is just another excuse to get them what they wanted all along.
  • Gun Quotes - Here are my favorite gun quotes. You can’t eliminate a tool, or knowledge of it. All that you can do is decide whether there should be a balance of power, or none. Some believe in that balance, others believe that the state is never wrong, especially if you ignore the History of all the times they’ve been wrong in the past.
  • Gun control or gun ban? - Some claim, "nobody wants to take your guns, we just want a few 'reasonable' controls on them". But if we pretend that gun control works (by ignoring facts and history), and we assume guns are the problem, then there is no such thing as gun-control: you need gun bans. Why would you tolerate a little murder or mass murder, if you could get rid of it all?
  • Just Ban Assault Rifles - Anyone that says any variant of "Just ban assault rifles", "no one should own military grade weapons", or "it's not all guns, just these killing machines" shows they are completely ignorant about guns, assault rifles, or bans. (Not to mention the constitution). This article breaks down why you can't ban "Assault Rifles", and why it would be moronic to try.
  • Laurie Smith - The corrupt bitch resigns the day before a conviction, and after decades of corruption and abuse. Pretty much the entire gun community in San Jose new of it. It was joked about in gun stores and shooting ranges, if you need a CCW, just donate enough to Laurie's fund... and you'll get a permit. Guilty on 6 counts.
  • Magazine Limits - Magazine limits have never been shown to have any impact on gun crime, crime, or casualties in mass shootings. Democrats demand low capacity magazines either knowing that (and not caring), or being ignorant of the topic they're trying to legislate. Persecuting someone knowing that your law can't help is kinda the definition of asshole.
  • Militia and United Airlines Flight 93 - Police, Army, and National Guard can't be everywhere. But "the general militia" (the able bodied public) can be. And in this case, they took action that prevented Flight 93 from crashing into Congress/WhiteHouse. The flight was taken over by people with box cutters, it was stopped by civilians with improvised arms. And that's why we have a 2A.
  • No Fly Lists for gun owners - The left demands that we close the “insane” loophole that allows people on the No Fly List to buy guns. And goes so far as to call it “insane” that we allow it. The problem is that the error rate on that list is high, and there's never been a mass shooter on the list.
  • Photos of guns are not criminal acts - To show how absurd the leftist PC movement is getting in our schools, two male students (Lacey Township High School, New Jersey) did a weekend run range trip and posted non-threatening photos to Snapchat, with the caption, "if there's ever a zombie apocalypse, you know where to go."
  • Reasonable Gun Laws - There’s an oft repeated fallacy that “all we want it a few more ‘reasonable’ gun laws” but (insert either the NRA, evil republicans, gun-nuts), won’t be reasonable. So let's talk about "what's reasonable", and explain some of the complexities that the reasonable laws on the books already look like, to understand why some are so hesitant to ask for more.
  • Rifle, Pistol or SBR - There’s a fallacy that “all we want is ‘reasonable’ gun laws”, then we look at the 20,000 gun laws and find few that work. An SBR (Short Barrelled Rifle) is considered more dangerous than a pistol or a rifle, and a felony to own, unless you pay $200 for a Tax Stamp, then it's safe again. Is that reasonable?
  • Shotspotter - Progressives are full of good ideas on how to spend other people's good money on bad ideas. Liberals who watch too much CSI thought spending ≈$250,000/square mile (+$60-90K/sq mi in yearly reoccurring costs) could detect and send cops to scenes of shootings. They forced taxpayers to fund these boondoggles, that didn't work.
  • Unreasonable outcomes - Reasonable gun laws would have protections against these unreasonable outcomes. There wouldn't be unreasonable prosecutions, people's lives ruined by over aggressive prosecutors. A single example disproves the ideas that gun laws (and gun controllers) are reasonable, or they would be outraged and demanding fixing/eliminating these unreasonable outcomes.
