Uber was a "Gig Economy" rethink that allowed private people to become Taxis.

Uber was a "Gig Economy" rethink that allowed private people to become Taxis. It offered better service, lower cost, and empowered individuals -- so leftist governments HATED it. They made up stories about crime/rape/lack of regulation. But their ratios weren't significantly hired than the government granted monopolies. Govt. was angry 'cause they weren't getting their cut.

2015.04.20 Chicago Uber Driver - Everardo Custodio began shooting into a crowd in Logan Square, Chicago -- when an uber driver with a CCW pulled his gun and dropped Everardo.
LAX Rideshare Policy - California banned Uber/Lyft from curbside pickups under the false premise that this would reduce congestion (really it was because the Taxi lobby buys Democrats). The completely predictable results were hour long waits and Carmageddon. Virtually everyone warned them that it would happen.
Uber Driver Rape - In May (2019) a Boston-area Uber Driver of 5 years (Melvin Guerrero-Encarna) was charged with sexually assaulting a female passenger, and was ordered to be held without bail, based on the woman’s claims. In Sept, all charges were dropped when DNA evidence came back exonerating the driver.
