The Boring Company (TBC) is an American infrastructure and tunnel construction services company founded by Elon Musk. Its ongoing and proposed projects are designed for intra-city ("loop") transit systems.

The company was created to fix the economics of tunneling -- because tunneling costs too much and moves too slow. The prime goal is that "Gary the Snail" (taken from Cartoon Spongebob Squarepants, kid cartoon) is always striving to be "faster"... and in real life a snail moves 14x faster than most tunneling machines. So getting by increasing speed (and number) of tunneling machines, he can change the economics, and create a better world (or cities).

So far his multiple projects are doing that, coming in cheaper and faster than most expected -- and offering some alternatives for high density and high-traffic areas.
