Slavery

No one is going to defend Slavery: it was a vile institution. But the issue is far more complex than many let on.

Left Right
America got rich off slavery. We owe reparations for that. White privilege is because whites held the black man down for so long, that we need to end racism by blaming everyone who is not-black and forcing them to pay everyone who is black, to make up for past wrongs that had nothing to do with them. We also have to have a censor symbols and history that we don't like, like the Confederate Flag. More whites were enslaved than blacks. Slavery held the economy down, and we thrived after it was removed. Economically, Slavery was likely a net burden so no reparations could be owed. American whites died fighting a war to end the slavery that Europe had given to us (and the country inherited before it was created, but ended): those whites sacrifice deserves reparations. Slavery couldn't have existed without the many blacks colluding with it, and is certainly not the fault of the majority of whites, asians and latinos who never had slaves or supported it, or came to America generations later. And while doctoring history is popular among the left, how can we learn from the past, if we criminalize discussing parts of it, or doctor the record?

Examples[edit | edit source]

  • Civil War and Slavery - History is rich and complex, not this shallow flat "good vs. bad" or the North was righteous and the South was evil bullshit. Since I care about the uncomfortable truths, more than the comforting fictions, I often discuss these things. In the real world, Slavery was the largest catalyst of bigger schism going on. But without slavery the pending war was still likely.
  • Slavery - Activism v. Reality - Abolitionists were activists, not moderates or historians. That doesn't make Slavery a good thing -- but propagandists and activists from the 19th century, are not where the rational should go to get the fairest version of History.
  • Slavery and the New Deal - Slavery and the civil war fascinated me. Again, this isn't to rationalize it, but the "Roots" narrative, as told by abolitionists, make no sense. If you were beaten and tortured and so on, then why wouldn't these folks fight or run? Well, from many first hand reports, it wasn't that bad for most. This isn't to diminish the abuses, or deny the exceptions, it's to understand the truth.
  • Slavery didn't make anyone rich - There's a fallacy amongst the left that Slavery made the South or America rich, or "America got rich on the backs of slaves". This is debated between fake economists (leftist theologians) and real economists, with most of the real ones recognizing that slavery was not a huge economic win, and was most likely a net burden.
  • Slavery is about racism - To the left, everything is racism and white patriarchies fault. Ignore that latino's, blacks, Muslims had even more slavery, and have more of it today. And that most slavery is Intraracial (within a race). White Christians are the first (and only) groups that fought to end the enslavement of people of a different culture.
  • ⅗ths clause - You often hear about the 3/5ths claus; "Blacks were only 3/5ths of a human being". But that were negotiating how to get rid of slavery with a system where Congressional votes were based on population. Since they didn't want to overpower the slave states by counting their population 1:1 (5/5ths), they diluted it to 3/5ths to reduce the influence of the South/Southern States

Alternate Reality[edit source]

There are really two different realities in America -- what you are being told, and what is real/true. Some people have a tough time differentiating the two, especially those that do well in School/Universities and get grades based on following and letting others think for them. But a few took the red pill and escape with skepticism and critical thinking skills, and they see what is.

Terms
We need to agree on what terms mean. This used to be easy, before SJW's/Marxists started Orwelling our language.

The Left Lies
When the truth disagrees with your agenda, you can grow (change) or lie. The left usually chooses the latter.

Alt-History
This is a list of the alternate history that the left uses to twist perception and thus twist reality.
