The ✊ Clenched Fist is a symbol of communism/socialism, violence, and revolution going back to the 19th century European monarchies. Starting with the French Revolution (King Louis-Philippe), then Socialist/Communist Organizations in the American, German Communists Movement (in the early 1900s). It makes sense that Marxist Black/Women's and Antifa movements hijacked it.

The Uprising, 1848
Honore Daumier The Uprising.jpg
Honoré Daumier’s The Uprising, 1848. One of the earliest images of the raised fist is a piece of art: Honoré Daumier’s The Uprising, 1848 in trubute to the French Revolution. Which was workers against the aristocracy.
Spanish Civil War
During the Spanish Civil War of 1936 to 1939, the Republican government used it to symbolize its opposition to the fascist Nationalist rebels led by future dictator Francisco Franco, who ruled Spain from 1939 to 1975.

Remember the basics: Fascism was a 1/2 step towards full Communism/Marxism. The anti-Fascists usually wanted full communism (no private markets/property at all). So anti-Fascists used the symbol in the 20th century, because Fascism wasn't far left enough.

Fist and Rose

Often there is a Fist and Rose as the symbol of socialism.

Which may be more telling than they intend: e.g. they pretend to be giving you a flower of Socialsim, but if you don't take it, they'll beat the shit out of you. (PSC-PSOE is the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party, and the PSOE is the various chapters).

The Black Panther Party
A racist militant marxist-leninist movement used the symbol a lot in the 1960s and 1970s. While the party got a bad reputation for their violence and corrupt leadership (Huey Newton), the black movements tried to carry on with new "gentler" public image -- but they love to re-use the fist to show what they really stand for. (Marxism, corruption, and black supremacy violence and revolution). They are either ignorant of what the symbols mean, or they know and it's an intentional signal for what they stand for. I don't think they're all that stupid.
