✏️ I don't care how people vote, or who they support. I do care about correcting revisionist history.

❝ ... it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations. ❞
~ Barack Obama ℹ️

❝ "My biggest frustration so far is the fact that this society has not been willing to take some basic steps to keep guns out of the hands of people who can do just unbelievable damage." ❞
~ Obama ℹ️

❝ "I don't believe people should be able to own guns," ❞
~ Obama ℹ️
Quoted by John Lott in At the Brink
❝ "Barack Obama is the most anti-gun president ever. " ❞
~ John Lott ℹ️
Quoted in At the Brink
❝ "weapons that were designed for soldiers in war theaters don't belong on our streets. Part of it is seeing if we can get an assault weapons ban reintroduced. But part of it is also looking at other sources of the violence. Because frankly, in my home town of Chicago, there's an awful lot of violence and they're not using AK-47s. They're using cheap hand guns." ❞
~ Obama ℹ️
Presidential debate, Oct. 16, 2012

So if we take him at his word, he would like to eliminate both handguns and the liberal invention of “assault weapons” (currently that would include the most popular selling rifles and pistols). All the incrementalism is NOT for the ultimate goal of "reasonable" gun control, it's for the eventual elimination of all gun rights, even if these were just baby steps towards his ultimate objective.

To the question: “Is the D.C. law prohibiting ownership of handguns consistent with an individual’s right to bear arms?” — the Supreme court said “No”. Obama said “yes” in his long winded way. He’d love to outlaw all our guns, just at the city level. To quote him,

  • "A: As a general principle, I believe that the Constitution confers an individual right to bear arms. But just because you have an individual right does not mean that the state or local government can’t constrain the exercise of that right, in the same way that we have a right to private property but local governments can establish zoning ordinances that determine how you can use it."

In other words, cities and states can ignore the constitution when it suits them. Unless it’s a law he likes, like Obamacare or gay marriage, then they have to follow it. Later he was asked about this issue again (of supporting a city gun ban), and he admitted he supported it.

Fabrications[edit | edit source]

Then there's cases where Obama either gaffed or lied, and since this was part of a larger speech, that was highly vetted and NOT just some "off the cuff" riff, we know that he's not above intentionally lying to his gullible base when he says things like, "And then there’s a reality that there are neighborhoods around the country where it is easier for a 12 or 13-year-old to purchase a gun, and cheaper, than it is for them to get a book".
