- After the collapse of the South Vietnam in 1975, their family homes and business were confiscated by the Communist regime because the family were classified as bourgeois capitalist exploiters (Mom's family had a Jewelry Business, Dad's was in Law Enforcement).
- The families were imprisoned in Communist re-education camps in the Maoist belief that hard labor and reeducation would reform counter-revolutionaries until becoming good socialist citizens. They fled along with tens of thousands of others on small boats off the southern coast of Vietnam in the late 1970s, and later met in Indonesia.
- They settled in Portland, Oregon.
- Ngo has commented on the irony of having to confront in the United States what his parents fled from in their homeland.

- 2019.01.11 Charles Landeros - An Antifa "beloved comrade and street medic" was killed when he went to his daughter's middle school to discuss a custody dispute, armed and wearing a "Smash the patriarchy" t-shirt. He pulled out a handgun and fired two rounds before being shot and killed.
- Andy Ngo twitter-blocked for posting facts - Chelsea Clinton highlighted the deaths of more than 150 trans people who “have been murdered in the U.S.” since 2013. Andy Ngo tweeted back the facts: “The US is one of the safest countries for trans people. The murder rate of trans victims is actually lower than that for cis population. Also, who is behind the murders? Mostly black men.” And Twitter blocked Andy.
- Twitter Bans people for exposing the Andy Ngo assailants - Andy Ngo spent the evening in the hospital with a brain bleed (and caustic burns) after being attacked by antifa during a protest in Oregon. Gay son of Vietnamese immigrants should be hit with bricks for photographing the violence of the Anti-American left. Twitter banned/de-verifyied (@Lucet_Veritas, @Rambobiggs) for exposing who did it.
